About Iyengar Yoga

Yoga is an ancient system of exercises and philosophy originally developed in India. Iyengar Yoga was developed by Mr. BKS Iyengar who has been teaching and demonstrating throughout the world for over sixty years. He has gained world-wide respect and recognition and made yoga accessible to many people.

Iyengar Yoga is suitable for all ages and abilities. Students are taught a range of asanas which are tailored to their individual needs with the use of appropriate supports (props) where necessary. Asanas include standing, sitting, forward bends, twists and inversions. These extend the body through its full range of movement.

Yoga improves general health and well-being. Major benefits include an improvement in posture, increase in energy and restoration of strength and stamina. It also alleviates stiffness and strain and soothes the mind.
