Childbirth Education Services
Childbirth Education Services

Exciting news my friends! Very soon I will be offering couples Childbirth Education classes. I have had several requests over the past years of teaching pre and postnatal classes to add additional services for Families. Although I would absolutely love to be a Doula and support couples during the birthing process my current life doesn't support the time it so needs. However I can support and educate women and their partners thru a Childbirth Education Series. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to being so close to offering these supportive services and resources. I will keep you all updated.

Hello friends. Christmas has come and gone like a tornado. Or at least that is how my house looks right about now. How incredibly stressful was that? I need a few elves to help me clean and put away the decorations until the mad rush returns again next year. I am so so grateful for the time with my family and the time we were able to spend with each other. The days after the holidays can leave us feeling a little frazzled. Take a well deserved pause just for yourself before returning to work or back into the routine of life. Incorporating a few essential oils into your life might help leave you feeling a bit more grounded or energized if you choose a uplifting oil. This week my body is craving Balance and Frankincense. Frankincense is the King of Oils and this month is completely free with your 200 PV Doterra order. What a bonus this is! The retail value of this precious oil is $90. Frankincense is a very soothing oil and when ingested helps support a healthy immune and nervous system. Balance is a oil blend that helps create a calm and soothing environment. I carry Balance in my purse and put a few drops on my wrists before work or grocery shopping. It definitely helps calm my nerves.
If you are interested in learning more about essential oils and the products Doterra has to offer please reach out. I absolutely love teaching others about how to take the toxins out of their home and begin using natural products in their own homes. Stop by my Doterra site anytime.

Excitement is in the Air

My son and daughter in law are expecting their first baby early February. Her due date is February 8, however we all know that the baby will arrive when he wants to. Even inside the womb he is smiling. This little guy already brings joy to our hearts and is loved so much. With the arrival of my first grandchild I am already trying to be mindful of my boundaries as a parent and grandparent. I am trying to only give advice and suggestions when asked because I remember when I was pregnant and all the unsolicited advice that people gave me. This can be incredibly overwhelming!! The last thing my daughter in law needs is another opinion being thrown at her. She is doing an amazing job of nourishing herself during this pregnancy. She looks like she is glowing and I've never seen her without a huge ear to ear smile. I still don't know how she is working 12 hour night shifts as a RN but she manages very well. She is a such natural care giver and Luke is one lucky kiddo to have her as a mommy.
Children bring out the magic in all of us. The magic of being completely present. How so? Well when you cuddle with a precious baby, or play hide and seek with your 3 year old, or read a silly bedtime story to your 4 year old or teach your 5 year old how to ride a bike are you thinking of all the other tasks in your life that need to be completed? The answer is most likely, NO. You are entirely present with the simplicity and pureness of their heart and mind. Their joy and curiosity to learn all that the world has to offer. All children are born with so much love to give and receive, they don't know fear or hatred. Love wins.
I look forward to seeing my son become a father to his own son. Witnessing all the "firsts" as a grandparent will be pretty amazing. I'm still getting use to the title, gramma. Maybe Luke will create another name for gramma Mel.
Its hard to imagine that this time next year that Luke will be crawling or walking around their home. Probably tearing freshly wrapped presents or pulling ornaments off the tree. This undoubtedly will make me laugh.
Luke whenever you decide to make your appearance earth side, we will be waiting with open arms. Thank you for choosing us to be your family. We love you little man. xoxo

Staying healthy and grounded during the holidays
Staying healthy and grounded during the holidays

Good evening my friends. So we are mid December and into the full swing of chaos. Only 12 days until Christmas and there aren't enough hours in the day. Between work, managing your households, Christmas shopping, holiday parties and kids Christmas events I'm sure you feel like some version of Elastagirl (or at least I do). Running on fumes, added stress and poor sleep can take its toll on our immune systems. So what can we do to help balance our minds and our bodies while staying healthy during times of added stress. First off, P A U S E! Allow yourself to take a pause, Yes you, it is okay to hit that pause button and remind yourself to BREATHE. Simply giving yourself permission to slow down and breathe can help your nervous system to down regulate and reset. Whether it's in your car or in the bathroom, pause, softly close your eyes and follow the breath in and out of your body. Perhaps deepen your breath a bit if that feels comfortable. Begin to notice the change within your mind and body after 10-15 rounds of breath.
So often during the winter months we forget to hydrate our bodies. Hydration is key for your body to function optimally. If you don't like to drink plain water then add a few drops of a citrus essential oil or fresh cucumber and mint. Both are super refreshing and a healthy option. I was talking with a friend the other day about eating and nutrition during the holidays. When your busy and maybe even traveling there aren't always the best on the go options. Taking the time to prep some on the go snacks and meals will help you feel healthier and more energized. Keeping fresh fruit and veggies prepared and ready to grab will definitely help. There are plenty of places that offer prepared healthy meals and snacks these days. If you don't have the time to prepare your food then this might be a great alternative for you. I'm totally guilty of grabbing high carb and sugar filled snacks because I waited to long to eat. Only to come crashing down hard after the sugar rush wears off. Getting quality healthy nutrients into your body will help keep your immune system functioning better during times of stress. Up to 90% of our Serotonin is made in the digestive tract. Serotonin is an important neurotransmitter that serves many functions in the human body, including playing a key role in emotions and happiness. Okay friends, enough lecturing for now! Have a wonderful and safe holiday season and please take that PAUSE!! Happy Holidays to you and your families.
